Convert N26 Bank Statement to Excel

N26 built its reputation on a clean English-language app, which makes it a default choice for freelancers and expats across the EU who invoice clients against a EUR IBAN. The monthly statement PDF is correspondingly minimal — date, counterparty, reference, amount — but minimal doesn’t mean spreadsheet-ready. A freelancer preparing a German or Spanish tax filing still has to separate client payments from groceries, movements into Spaces still appear as internal transfers that need excluding from income, and European day-first dates (whether printed DD/MM/YYYY or DD.MM.YYYY) are exactly the format Excel loves to misread on import. Retyping sixty rows is tedious; retyping them with the day and month swapped is worse. SheetMyBank parses the statement’s actual format, so dates land as real dates, amounts keep their signs, and references stay attached to the right rows — ready to filter income from expenses in one pass.

Your statements live in the N26 app and web interface: open your profile or account area, find the statements section, pick the month, and download the PDF — N26 generates one per closed month. Because the account is app-first, plenty of people only have a statement as a screenshot or phone photo, and that works here too: the built-in OCR reads images the same pipeline handles text PDFs. Wherever the file came from, SheetMyBank processes it entirely on your device — no upload, no server-side copy of your IBAN and transaction history, and the converter keeps working offline once loaded. Every extracted row is checked against the statement’s running balance, so if the OCR misreads a digit on a photographed page, that row is flagged in the preview and listed on the Warnings sheet rather than silently corrupting your totals. Export to Excel, CSV, or OFX and your month is reconciled.

N26 statement FAQ

How do transfers to my Spaces show up in the converted spreadsheet?

As the internal movements N26 records them as — money leaving your main balance when you fill a Space and returning when you withdraw. They keep their signs and descriptions, so a quick filter on the description column lets you exclude them from income and expense totals.

My statement uses German-style dates — will Excel mangle them?

Not via this route. The converter recognises European day-first formats, including dotted DD.MM.YYYY, and writes proper date values into the spreadsheet, so 04.03 stays the 4th of March instead of becoming April 3rd on import.

I only have my N26 statement as a photo from my phone — is that usable?

Yes. The OCR layer is built for exactly that case: photos and scans go through the same extraction as native PDFs, and the balance verification afterwards tells you whether every row was read correctly, flagging any that were not.
