Convert a Bank Statement to Xero
Xero imports bank statements from CSV and OFX files, but not from PDF — and PDF is exactly what banks give you for anything older than the feed window, or for accounts that never had a live feed. To backfill history, repair a broken feed period, or reconcile a client account that only exists on paper, you have to convert the statement first. Drop the PDF below and download either a clean CSV to map in Xero’s import screen or an OFX file that maps itself.
Because imported statement lines drive reconciliation, a single wrong amount surfaces as a mystery difference weeks later. That is why every line here is checked against the statement’s printed running balance before you export — discrepancies are highlighted immediately, not discovered during reconciliation. Conversion runs fully in your browser with no upload step, so the statement never sits on anyone’s server.

How it works
Convert the PDF
Drop the bank statement PDF into the converter. Every page is parsed and balance-checked on your device.
Download CSV or OFX
Pick CSV for Xero’s column-mapping import, or OFX if you want the fields recognised automatically. Both come from the same verified table.
Import in Xero
In Xero go to Accounting → Bank accounts, choose the account, and click Import a statement. Upload the file, confirm the mapping, and the lines appear ready to reconcile.
Bank Statement to Xero FAQ
Should I give Xero a CSV or an OFX file?
Both work. OFX carries typed fields, so Xero ingests it without a mapping step. CSV shows Xero’s column-mapping screen — our header row (Date, Description, Debit, Credit, Balance) maps in a few clicks and lets you eyeball the data first. If an import misbehaves, try the other format.
Can I backfill months from before my Xero bank feed started?
Yes — that is the main use case. Download the PDF statements for the missing months from your bank, convert each one here, and import the files in date order. Xero flags duplicate statement lines on overlapping dates, so small overlaps are safe.
What happens to the statement file during conversion?
Nothing leaves your browser. The PDF is parsed, verified against its running balance, and re-exported entirely on your device — there is no upload endpoint in this app. Close the tab and no copy of the statement exists anywhere but your own disk.
